A small, free web app for two everyday jobs: letting people know you’re nearly there, and not missing your stop.
Who runs it
ETA is owned by Steven Smith and run from the UK. Get in touch at hello@eta.me.uk.
How it’s paid for
The guide pages show a few banner ads from 5od, our own small ad service, if you accept ads cookies. The app screens — the journey screen, alarm, contacts, live links — never show ads.
Built on open data and open software
- Maps: Leaflet (hosted on our own server), with map pictures from OpenStreetMap under its tile usage policy. Spotted a mistake on the map? Report it to OpenStreetMap.
- Postcode and place search: postcodes.io (data licences). Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2025. Contains Royal Mail data © Royal Mail copyright and database right 2025.
- Fonts: Funnel Display and Reddit Sans, both under the SIL Open Font Licence, hosted on our own server.
What’s next
A native app would let alerts work with the screen off. Texts or WhatsApp messages would need a paid messaging provider. Both are ideas for later, not promises.
